Kateryna Bortsova's works in Sheepshead Review (USA)

Sheepshead Review first went to print in 1975 under the name Sheepshead Revue, a cheeky reference to the popular Wisconsin card game (trivia note: Sheepshead originated in Germany as “Schafkopf”). It features creative writing and visual art from students at UW-Green Bay, and stayed in print off and on for the next 24 years, pausing in 1999 for a four-year sabbatical.

In 2003, a small band of students and faculty came together and plotted, conspired, and collaborated to revive the journal for a re-launch in Spring 2003. Ever since, UW-Green Bay students, faculty, and even creatives outside campus have contributed to help us publish a journal every spring and fall semester.

Sheepshead Review went full-color in 2007 to give our visual arts contributors the image quality their work deserves (and also to give our graphics team a bigger design playground). While each of our issues takes on a new form, each champion the same spirit of creativity that inspired its first publication.
